Ah, a wonderfully wide and perceptive perspective on troubled times then and now - what will be the ‘unintended consequences’ for the USA, I wonder (and do I really want to know)?
I didn't want to muddy the waters with anything on the USA. So much can happen... what no one dares report is more worrying. A great deal depends on 'if' the scheduled midterms will take place. There is a Trumpian way around the democratic process that I'm sure he's thought about. But as I said on Law & Polity as a remark -- there are no quick fixes in the US. Rather than Noah's 40 days of rain, it may well be 40 years wandering in the desert.
Without, unfortunately, the reassurance of a promised land at the end of it - I know every generation says it, but we do seem to be in the midst of the emergence of a new world order… It may bring great good for great numbers, but there again, it may not. Ho hum.
I would love to share your positivity re ‘great good’. The new world order is upon us… it would be great if we had the leadership in the West to handle it.

Eh oui. Entretemps, on n'a que cultiver son jardin...
On n’a pas beaucoup de choix!
